Description
Flower Mill does not grind with teeth – it mills material against a perforated plate, which is why the output comes out fluffy instead of pulverised. The plate is the part that sets the texture, and swapping it is how you change the grind rather than buying another mill. These are 2.5 inch plates: numbered aluminium plates from #1 Extra Fine through #5 Extra Coarse, plus a stainless steel plate for anyone who wants a harder-wearing surface.
Why it stands out
Because the plate is the only thing determining consistency, one mill and two plates covers everything from a fine grind for papers to a coarse one for a bowl. Lower numbers have smaller perforations and give a finer result.
Specifications
- Fits: Flower Mill 2.5 inch mills
- #1: Extra fine perforation
- #2: Fine perforation
- #4: Coarse perforation
- #5: Extra coarse perforation
- Materials: Anodised aluminium (numbered plates), or stainless steel
- Note: Plate #3 is the standard plate supplied with the mill and is not offered separately here
What’s included
One replacement mill plate in the coarseness and material you select. The mill itself is not included.
Compatibility
Only fits the 2.5 inch Flower Mill body. If your mill measures 2 inches across, use the 2 inch plate listing instead – the plates are not interchangeable between body sizes.
Care
Brush the perforations out after use; a stiff dry brush works better than water. Dry the plate fully before refitting.
Good to know
Lower number equals finer grind. If you are only buying one spare, #2 Fine is the most generally useful step away from the stock plate.
