AVB Storage Safety
Already-vaped bud (AVB) is the material left over after a thermal extraction session. Unlike ash from combustion, AVB still contains residual active compounds because controlled thermal extraction operates below combustion temperatures. Proper storage preserves what remains and prevents degradation.
Why storage matters
AVB is decarboxylated during the extraction process, meaning the compounds are already activated and bioavailable. Improper storage exposes this material to light, moisture, and oxygen—all of which degrade active compounds and encourage mold growth. If you plan to save and use AVB, storage is not optional.
Storage guidelines
- Container: Airtight glass jars (amber or UV-blocking preferred). Mason jars with rubber-sealed lids work well. Avoid plastic—it can interact with terpene residues.
- Light: Store in a dark location or use opaque/amber containers. UV light degrades active compounds rapidly.
- Temperature: Cool, room temperature. Avoid refrigeration (moisture risk) and heat (further degradation).
- Moisture: AVB should be fully dry before storage. Any residual moisture creates mold risk. If you live in a humid climate, consider adding a food-safe desiccant pack.
- Labeling: Date your AVB collections. Potency decreases over time even with proper storage. Aim to use within 1–3 months.
Session quality affects AVB quality
