Why other jars cannot keep up

Almost every container sold for flower fails in one of three predictable ways. This one does not, and the reason is the seal.

Closure	What actually happens
Plastic pop-top	Polypropylene is gas-permeable. Terpenes migrate straight through the wall over weeks, and static pulls your trichomes onto the sides. You are storing flower in a container that is slowly breathing it out.
Rubber-gasket bail jar	Looks the part. The gasket takes an odor set, compresses permanently, and stops sealing — usually within a year, and always without telling you.
Screw cap with a paper or foam liner	Wicks moisture, absorbs smell, and disintegrates the first time it gets damp. This is the liner in most cheap “airtight” jars.
This cap: plastisol-lined tin-plated steel	Plastisol is a fused vinyl compound that flows against the glass rim under torque and forms to it. It is the closure the food industry uses when the contents cannot be allowed to breathe. Rated leakproof and hermetic. It seals the same on day one and on day one thousand.

A humidity pack in a jar that does not truly seal is a $4 pack doing nothing. That is the whole reason this is sold as a system.

Why humidity is the whole game

Flower does not really go bad. It goes flat. The terpenes — the compounds responsible for the entire difference between a jar that smells like citrus and a jar that smells like hay — are volatile. They evaporate first, and they evaporate fastest in dry air.

Let relative humidity drift below the mid-50s and you lose terpenes, the material turns brittle, and it burns hot and harsh. Let it climb past the mid-60s and you have created an environment where mold is possible. The usable window is narrow, and an ordinary jar does nothing to hold you inside it — it only seals in whatever humidity happened to be in the room when you closed the lid.

A two-way humidity pack fixes that in both directions. It is a saturated salt solution in a food-safe membrane: when the air inside the jar dries out, it releases moisture; when the air gets too damp, it absorbs it back. It holds the container at its rated humidity without any input from you. No calibration, no maintenance, no burping.

How to use it

1. Drop the Vivi Fresh pack into the jar with your flower. It can touch the flower — that is by design.
2. Seal the cap fully. The system only works in a genuinely airtight container, which is exactly why we chose this jar.
3. Store it out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Light and heat degrade cannabinoids independently of humidity.

Questions we actually get

Will it hold an eighth? Easily, with room to spare. It holds a quarter comfortably. The pack is rated to protect up to a half ounce, so the pack is never the limiting factor here — the jar is.

Does it stop the smell? The closure is rated leakproof and hermetic, which is a stricter standard than “odor resistant.” Seat the cap fully; that is the entire trick.

How do I know the pack is spent? Squeeze it. Soft and pliable means it is working. Rigid and hard means it is done. Three months is the schedule; the squeeze test is the confirmation.

Can I put the pack in with anything else? Yes — cigars, pre-rolls, herbs. 58% is the flower number.
