Base + Device + Prep + Support Framework
The Base + Device + Prep + Support framework is how Pixie’s Pantry organizes hardware into functional systems rather than random product lists. Instead of browsing hundreds of disconnected items, you build a cohesive setup by selecting one component from each category.
1. Base — The Foundation
The base is the core foundation of your setup. Depending on your system, this could be the power source driving the heat—a removable battery, a wall-plugged controller, or a butane torch. In hydrated filtration systems, the base refers to the water piece itself: the modular glass body that provides cooling and filtration.
The base you choose dictates your system’s stability, airflow volume, cleaning access, and long-term replacement costs.
2. Device — The Thermal Engine
The device is the hardware doing the actual extraction. This could be a portable vaporizer, a desktop unit, a manual thermal extraction device, or an e-rig. When selecting a device, prioritize models with isolated airpaths, precise temperature control, disclosed chamber materials, and an easy cleaning process.
3. Prep — Tools for Repeatability
Prep items include grinders, dosing capsules, storage containers, humidity control packs, and loading tools. While prep may not seem glamorous, consistent grind and proper moisture control are essential because bad prep can make even the highest-quality extraction device feel unpredictable.
4. Support — Maintenance and Longevity
Support covers replacement screens, seals, mouthpieces, stems, chargers, replacement glass, and cleaning tools. Investing in support is crucial because if a cheap device breaks one tiny irreplaceable part, the entire device becomes disposable. A real system has a maintenance path.
Why system thinking matters
The framework prevents the two most common buyer mistakes: buying a premium device with no accessories (leading to poor sessions and frustration) and buying random accessories that don’t work together (wasting money on incompatible parts).
Every product in the Pixie’s Pantry catalog maps to one of these four roles. The Good / Better / Best tier system then helps you select the right quality level for each component based on your budget and needs.
